Advanced course work is required to complete the Sped CTL Program.
The requirements for obtaining the Special Education Continuing Licensure (SPED CTL) are:
- Holding a valid and current initial teaching license and/or an initial endorsement (that has been added to your teaching license) in the area in which you wish to add the continuing license
- Having three years of half-time or full-time teaching experience
- Doing advanced coursework (six credits beyond masters)
- Having completed a master's degree in education
- Some students may need to develop a professional portfolio documenting their competency that has been evaluated by a university program (see an adviser)
- Students must apply for admission to obtain the Continuing Licensure.
