Conflict resolution involves understanding the nature of conflict and how one responds in situations involving conflict. The program provides a theoretical perspective with specific attention given to communication skills that enhance your ability to maintain personal control while in the midst of conflict.

Negotiation involves asserting your own needs while at the same time cooperating to meet the needs of others. The process encourages reaching goals while maintaining relationships.

Mediation is an extension of negotiation, offering a means to resolve differences when negotiations fail. Mediation is becoming recognized as an effective and valuable conflict management strategy. It is a third party intervention that is being applied in many settings: families, hospitals, neighborhoods, small-claims courts, schools, and businesses.

The format provides ample opportunity to practice the concepts and skills presented.
