An Outreach Initiative for Diversity in LeadershipThe program has been postponed: please check back in spring 2010
Leadership for Democracy in the Classroom is an outreach initiative developed in response to the need for diversity in educational leadership. This initiative provides you with the structure, support, and encouragement you need to define and attain your long-term leadership goals. Designed to address issues of race and gender this course encourages in-depth discussion about issues that confront emerging leaders and provides the opportunity to learn practices to overcome these challenges.
You will have the opportunity to learn from current and past administrators and use their experience to hone your critical thinking ability and develop the skills and knowledge needed to move successfully into leadership positions.
The program provides the opportunity to:
- Join a supportive cohort and form long-lasting relationships
- Develop a network of professional contacts in administration and professional associations
- Engage in dialogue about problems of practice with experienced educational leaders
- Apply ideas and topics discussed in class directly to classroom instruction
- Gain an understanding of leadership challenges and learn success strategies from experienced leaders
- Recognize your potential and aptitude for leadership and your ability to positively contribute to education though leadership
