Technical requirements
for Blackboard classes
Success in the program requires that you :
- Have
a PSU Odin* account (you
need to be registered first)
- Have
unrestricted access to a personal computer (Windows or Mac)
- Have a reliable
connection to the Internet (DSL or cable recommended)
- Have
a current version of a Web browser installed on the computer
- Are
proficient using a computer and common computer software (such as Web browsers,
word processors, spreadsheet applications, and media players)
- Are
able to work independently
* Your Odin password
allows you to access the Portland State University banweb system. Noncredit participants are given a username and password for Blackboard.
Portland State
University uses a Web-based course management system called Blackboard. For specific
information on getting an active Portland State computer account, information regarding
Blackboard, its basic technical requirements, and how to properly configure your computer
and Web browser for its use, please visit the following website: www.extended.pdx.edu/distance/tech

If
after reviewing the instructions for logging on to your course you encounter problems
you cannot resolve by consulting the online documentation or the Portland State's Help
Desk, please call 503-725-4822 or email karinena@pdx.edu. Be ready to provide
your name, student ID number, the course name and number, and a detailed description
of the problem you are encountering before calling or emailing.
Please note
that you will NOT have access to your online course until after 8am on the official
first day of classes for the term that you are registered. Attempts to log on
to your course before that date will not be successful.
