Human Service Professionals

Continuing Education provides programming for human services professionals. Programs and workshops are designed for counselors, private practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, substance abuse counselors, nurses, and other health care professionals. Human Services provides credit and noncredit courses that may be applied towards continuing education units. Continuing Education closely works with professional organizations such as the National Board for Certified Counselors, National Association of Social Workers, Oregon Dispute Resolution Commission, and Addiction Counselor Certification Board of Oregon to ensure program certification and licensure.

Programs for human services professionals: Programs are available that lead to licensure, certificates of completion, and graduate certificates in addictions, couples and family therapy, vocational rehab, clinical supervision and more.

Human service courses and workshops: PSU provides workshops for professionals for which they can receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Continuing Education Units (CEUs): One Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is a National Uniform Measurement for non-credit Continuing Education Programs and is defined as "ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction." It is calculated as

1 contact hour = 0.1 CEUs
10 contact hours = 1 CEU
12 contact hours = 1.2 CEUs
30 contact hours = 3 CEUs
