Susan E. Halverson-Westerberg, PhD, MFT, LPC, NCSC, is an associate professor at Portland State University. Her areas of expertise include couples, marriage and family therapy and school counseling. Dr. Halverson-Westerberg is a licensed marriage and family therapist, a licensed professional counselor, and a national certified school counselor. Her research interests include counselor development, grief work, and collaboration between school and family systems. She also teaches classes that include play therapy and sand tray therapy for working with children, adolescents, and adults.

Patrick (Rick) Johnson, PhD, is an associate professor and program director of the Counselor Education program at Portland State University. In addition to a doctorate in counseling psychology, he has a post-master's degree in family therapy from the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic. He was a professor at San Francisco State University and Montana State University before joining the faculty at Portland State University. He is a licensed psychologist and a clinical member of AAMFT. In addition to teaching at Portland State, he maintains a private clinical practice. Dr. Johnson's areas of theoretical emphasis are the integration of family systems, contemporary analytic theories, and humanistic-existential theories. His research areas are young adult development, differentiation, divorce, and alcoholic/substance-abusing families.

Donald Mihaloew, EdD, LMFT, CFLE, is a licensed marriage and family therapist and educator who has been in private practice for more than 25 years. He is an adjunct faculty member at Portland State University and was formerly an adjunct faculty member at Lewis & Clark College, Lane Community College, and University of Oregon. He is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
