Lisa Aasheim, PhD, NCC, ACS, is an assistant professor at Portland State University and specializes in clinical supervision and couples and family counseling. She is the director of the Community Counseling Clinic at Portland State and is the coordinator of the school counseling specialty track. Dr. Aasheim is currently involved in several research projects involving clinical supervision and enjoys collaborative research with several leaders in the clinical supervision field. Dr. Aasheim has authored several articles and textbook chapters about supervision, counselor education and development, Motivational Interviewing, and the therapeutic alliance.

John Fitzgerald, PhD, LPC, CAS, is on clinical faculty in the department of psychiatry at Oregon Health & Sciences University, and is an adjunct assistant professor in the Systems Science Program at Portland State University. He has worked as a clinician (community-based and private practice), researcher, consultant, and trainer in the addiction field for over a decade, and hosts the website: www.addictionmanagement.org. Much of his current work focuses on abuse of prescription drugs.

Betty Friedman, MSW, LCSW, has been an adjunct instructor in the Graduate School of Social Work at Portland State University (PSU) and in the counseling/psychology department at Lewis & Clark College. She currently has a private practice in Portland, provides clinical consultation to social service and addiction treatment agencies, and supervises social workers for licensure. Ms. Friedman has also been a trainer and course developer for the Oregon Department of Alcohol and Drug Abuse.

Tim Hartnett MSW, MHA, is the executive director of Comprehensive Options for Drug Abusers (CODA), Portland's oldest comprehensive alcohol and drug treatment agency. He has been devoted to working with hard-to-reach populations ranging from the most recalcitrant juvenile delinquents to homeless persons suffering from severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders. He has worked as a school teacher, direct-service worker, program director, research partner, consultant, state policy maker, and agency executive. Prior to coming to CODA, Mr. Hartnett was director of the Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Recovery for the State of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.

Kelly J. Washam, MA, CADCI, has been working in mental health, addictions, and dual diagnosis for over 14 years, including outpatient, residential, and hospital settings. She is senior counselor/preceptor at ChangePoint, Inc., and counsels in the intensive outpatient and Matrix research programs. Ms. Washam has also presented workshops on addictions, stress management, motivation, and managing the symptoms related to mental health issues. She is co-founder of Spirit Mind Associates and has a private practice in Portland.
