The certificate program in Addictions Counseling is available in two forms: a for-credit academic Graduate Certificate and a noncredit Certificate of Completion.
PSU Graduate Certificates
A graduate certificate program is a linked series
of approved graduate-level courses that constitute a coherent body of study with
a specific, defined focus within a discipline. It is designed for a postbaccalaureate
participant and reflects the educational mission of the University. Courses and
certificates completed are transcripted by the registrar as a part of the
student's permanent University record.
A student must be formally admitted to the Graduate Certificate program.
Certificate of Completion
A Certificate of Completion is awarded to all who successfully complete the program
in Addictions Counseling as a non-credit student. This Certificate reflects
the total contact hours for continuing education
credit of 180 hours. In addition, students needing to document their participation
on a course-by-course basis can receive a certificate of completion for each individual
course they successfully complete.
Certification Information (CEUs and Licensure)
Thirty contact hours are available for each
course. Participants can receive a certificate of completion for each course
completed or NBCC clock-hour verification. CEUs may be used toward Oregon and
Washington counseling or social work licensure. They may also be appropriate for
meeting Oregon psychology continuing education requirements. ACCBO approved.
