This series of six hybrid courses (online with one or two face-to-face meetings) focuses on deepening your understanding of mathematical concepts and how to immediately apply this new knowledge in your elementary or midlevel classroom. Courses are designed and taught by a team of Portland State University faculty and master teachers with expertise in elementary math.
Foci includes: algebraic thinking, the history and culture of mathematics, numbers and operations, geometry and measurement, statistics and data analysis, and developing leadership and coaching skills. The coursework is based on the Oregon Mathematics Education Council (OMEC) Elementary Mathematics Teaching Competencies, utilizing a research to practice approach.
