Susan Carlile, MA, is the former director of Curriculum and Instruction for Tigard-Tualatin School District. Under her leadership, the school district was awarded a major grant for school change at the high school level. She has been a middle school principal, an assistant middle school principal, and an assistant high school principal. At Junction City High School, Ms. Carlile served as the activities director.

Carolyn Carr, PhD, is a professor of educational leadership and policy, in the Graduate School of Education. She serves as the coordinator of the Executive Leadership Licensure program, which prepares educators for service in Oregon schools. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with degrees in English, school counseling and educational administration. Her scholarship and areas of interest are educational leadership, diversity, and the policy and politics of education. She was the founding president of the Oregon Professors of Educational Administration and guided its affiliation as a charter member of the National Council of Professors of Educational Administration (NCPEA). She is the director of research for ORPEA. She has served as a member of the executive board of the National Council of Professors of Educational Administration and is currently the PSU plenum representative to the University Council of Educational Administration. She serves on the steering committee for the Oregon Leadership Network of the Oregon Department of Education, and on the Confederation of Oregon School Administrators (COSA) licensure committee.

Tom Chenoweth, PhD, is a professor for the department of Educational Leadership and Policy (formerly the Educational Policy, Foundations, and Administrative Studies Department). His areas of research include supervision of instruction, theories of instruction, Accelerated Schools, and change in schools. He recently co-authored the book, Navigating Comprehensive School Change: A Guide for the Perplexed.

Glenn Gelbrich, MA, is the current director of Employee Relations for the Salem-Keizer School District. He taught and was a school administrator at the elementary and middle school level, served as a regional director of Student Achievement and then as assistant superintendent for Portland Public Schools until July 2003. His twenty-five years of public education have been diverse experiences, ranging from teaching in a two-classroom school to the Northwest's largest school district.

Steven Haskell, PhD, has been a school psychologist for 25 years and director of Special Education for Central Point School District for the past six years. He is licensed in Pupil Personnel Services for School Psychologist and Supervisor. He has also taught graduate level courses for Southern and is a past president for the Oregon School Psychologists Association.

Dan Johnson, EdD, is currently serving as program manager and student adviser for off-campus administration certificate programs for the Graduate School of Education at Portland State University. Dr. Johnson retired from Salem-Keizer School District in 1999 where he served as assistant superintendent, director of special projects, director of the Sprague-area operations, and principal at the high school and middle school level. He has also been an administrative assistant for Education Services, an activities adviser, and a middle school teacher.

Phil Long, EdD, serves as supervisor of secondary curriculum for the Medford School District. Prior to this, Dr. Long has been an assistant principal, a division leader, a regular classroom teacher, and a substitute teacher.

Jeremy Lyons, PhD, is the superintendent of the Hillsboro School District.  Dr. Lyons initiated the “Superintendents Speak” elective for the Continuing Administrator Licensure program.

Don MacLaughlin, MA, is the supervisor for migrant-bilingual programs for Klamath Falls City Schools. He is the Title I-C director, Title VII supervisor, and ELL district coordinator. Prior to Klamath Falls City Schools, Mr. MacLaughlin was the summer school principal in Elk Grove Unified School District. He has been a sixth grade teacher in Salem, Oregon and Sacramento, California.

Mike McClain, MA, recently retired as superintendent of schools for the Jackson County School District No. 6 in Central Point, Oregon. Prior to that he was director of school reform for this same district. In his career as an educator, Mr. McClain has been a principal, a division leader, an English teacher, a forensics coach, a drama coach, a basketball coach, and a track coach. He has also been a visiting specialist at Southern Oregon University.

Maria Palacio, EdD, is the director of compensatory education for Salem-Keizer School District. She coordinates Title I, bilingual education, migrant education, Indian education, homeless children and families, and Oregon Pre-kindergarten. Dr. Palacio has been a middle school and elementary school principal. In addition, she has been a bilingual resource teacher and head of the middle school program at the American School in Switzerland.

Mary Reid, MS, is a Special Education Director for Special Programs at Willamette Education Service District in Salem. She has 26 years in special education serving one year in Portland Public Schools, five years at the Oregon School for the Blind providing technical assistance across the state, and 20 years at Willamette ESD as a supervisor, coordinator, and then director of special programs. She serves on state committees, and works closely with the Oregon Department of Education on special education matters. She has published a national newsletter specific to the disability of blindness for 12 years. She has been a guest speaker at state conferences, and for higher education classes at Western Oregon University and Portland State University, mostly on special education issues.

Cynda Rickert, MA, is principal at South Medford High School. Prior to this, she was principal at McLoughlin Middle School in Medford. Ms. Rickert has been a classroom teacher, a school counselor, a dean, and an assistant principal. She is a staff developer and has presented locally, statewide, and nationally.

Craig Roessler, MA, has served as superintendent of Silverton area schools since 1987. He is currently the past president of the Oregon Association of School Executives (OASE), the co-chair of COSA School Funding Steering Committee, an ex-officio member of the board of directors for the Oregon School Boards Association (OSBA), and a member of the OSBA Insurance Trust Committee. He has served as an adjunct professor for Portland State University and Lewis and Clark College. Mr. Roessler was the 2000 Oregon Superintendent of the Year.

Nanci Schneider, MS, has been a school administrator for the last seventeen years. She has received several national public relations awards and was invited to the White House to receive a School of Excellence award. She has been a presenter at statewide conferences and is the project director for School Finance, Data, and Analysis for the Oregon Department of Education.

Deborah Sommer, EdD, is the superintendent of the Canby School District and is celebrating her 30th year in public education. She has been a teacher, staff development specialist, viceprincipal, principal, director of curriculum, executive administrator for K-12 instruction, and a superintendent for several school districts and a regional ESD. She serves as an adjunct professor at Portland State University and Lewis & Clark College. In her courses, she emphasizes school organization and restructuring, curriculum implementation, and school reform.

Joe Weiss, MA, is the director of human resources for Salem-Keizer School District in Salem, Oregon. Mr. Weiss has also served as director of licensed personnel and director of area operations for Salem-Keizer. His career as an educator includes serving as assistant superintendent for personnel and curriculum and director of student services with Lebanon Public Schools and as Coordinator of Special Education with Polk County ESD. Mr. Weiss has also been a speech and language pathologist, where he was assigned to inner-city schools for the Los Angeles City Unified School District.
