The Convenience of Distance Learning
To save you both time and money, we are offering the program as a combined face-to-face and online program. It can also be taken as a fully distance program. Four of the courses are online and the remaining workshops meet at the downtown Portland campus. These face-to-face workshops can be taken at a distance through the use of streaming video directly to your computer.

Our supportive staff and tech support offer assistance and support to students learning from a distance. If you have never tried online learning, contact Marion Sharp (sharpml@pdx.edu) to find out just how easy it is!

Participation in this program requires that you have unrestricted access to a personal computer (Windows or Mac) with a reliable high-speed connection to the Internet (preferably DSL or cable). You must also have a current version of a Web browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer).

In addition, you should be proficient using a computer, email, and common computer software such as Web browsers, word processors, and media players.

Portland State University uses a Web-based course management system called Blackboard. For specific information regarding Blackboard, its basic technical requirements, and to properly configure your computer and Web browser for its use, please visit:

If you have additional questions regarding technical requirements, please contact the PSU Help Desk at 503-725-HELP.

If you will be accessing the face-to-face portion of the program through streaming video, you will need to download the latest version of Windows media. Windows Media Player is available at www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download. Additional support and FAQs are available at support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=wmp.

If you have questions, email sharpml@pdx.edu.
