Application deadline is September 1, 2008. Applications after the deadline are accepted on a space-available basis.

To be considered for admission, candidates must:

• Possess a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 (undergraduate, upper division, or graduate)

Admission to the program requires two application packets:
Packet #1 to the Portland State University Office of Admissions (104 Neuberger Hall – or email to Portland State Admissions, PO Box 751, Portland, OR  97207):

• Application for Graduate Admission
• Please check the box for MS under DEGREES, the box for Initial under Licensure, with Major code: EDSP, Concentration code: SPED, and Endorsement Area code: SPED.
• One set of official transcripts from all institutions you have attended, except Portland State, in sealed original envelopes from the institutions
• $50 application fee

Packet #2 to The Department of Special Education and Counselor Education (Rm 204 of the Education building or to Portland State University, SPED, PO Box 751, Portland, OR 97207):

• Special Education Program Admission Application
• One set of official transcripts from all institutions attended, including Portland State, (including any graduate-level course work)
• Cover letter describing career goals and accomplishments. Special experiences, background skills, and abilities should be noted
• Special Education Transcript and Experience Review form
• Writing sample
• Two Recommendation for Admission evaluation forms
• Up-to-date résumé
• One copy of current Oregon teaching license from TSPC website
