Portland State University’s Graduate School of Education is responding to the need for more licensed special education teachers by offering a special education endorsement program that is designed especially for Oregon teachers with general education licenses at the elementary and/or middle/secondary grade levels.
The Add Endorsement in Special Education Program (AddSpEd) is a five-term program that begins each winter term and ends the following winter term. Students enroll in two classes each term and four courses in summer session. Designed with the working teacher in mind, classes are scheduled after 4pm one evening each week during the school year whenever possible. Online learning is combined with face-to-face classroom instruction throughout the program.
With AddSpEd, elementary and secondary school teachers who are interested in filling multiple roles or changing their current teaching positions can add this endorsement to their current license. In addition, the credits earned can be applied toward a master’s degree in special education.
If you want to add an endorsement in special education to your current Oregon teaching license, this program is for you!
